Carnevale comes to Courmayeur

In Britain, this time of year means pancakes and maybe giving up something for lent…but in Italy, it’s a much bigger event indeed!

Courmayeur

Watch out for ‘Le Beuffons’

If you’re in Courmayeur then make sure you watch out for ‘Le Beuffons’ – famous figures from the Courmayeur Mont Blanc Carnival celebrations.

The ‘Beuffons’ run from village to village in special military-styled uniforms announcing the arrival of ‘lo Carmetron’ – the Carnival.

Fat Tuesday is coming

Mardi Gras – ‘Fat Tuesday’ – is on 28 February 2017. Courmayeur will have their traditional soup available from 12.30pm in the centre of town at the Piazza Abbe Henry.

Later in the afternoon from 3.30pm, you can follow the parade of floats and the event finishes off with a dance party from 5pm.

Lots of activities for children

It’s not just a Carnival that Courmayeur has a lot going on. As well as skiing and snowboarding you can enjoy tobogganing, ice skating as well as climbing at the Courmayeur Mountain Sport Center.

If you are looking for outdoor activities you can also try the Club des Sports, a playground in the center of Val Ferret, where you can let your kids play with sleds, try out cross-country skiing, mini-snowmobiles and even fat bikes while you can relax on their deck in the sun.
