Zermatt is one of the most impressive locations in the world, surrounded by three of Europe's highest mountains, the Monte Rosa, Dom and the Matterhorn.

The village itself is a delight for the senses with narrow chalet-lined streets full of shops, boutiques and mouth-watering pastry shops. Traffic-free, you can enjoy a horse drawn carriage ride around town or take one of the electric taxis if required.

The Gornergrat mountain train slowly takes visitors up the mountain, giving wonderful views of the Matterhorn and a breathtaking circular panorama of all the nearby peaks. For a close encounter with the Matterhorn, take the gondola to Schwarzsee, where there is an inviting restaurant with sun terrace, a tiny chapel ‘Mary of the Snow’; from here you feel you could almost reach out and touch the mountain!
