Summer Skiing in Les 2 Alpes

The 2013/14 ski season is drawing to a close, but in Les 2 Alpes skiing and snowboarding goes on through the summer.

Glacier skiing in Les 2 Alpes

Thanks to their glacier at 3200m, only a 30 minute cable car ride from the resort via the Jandri Express, Les 2 Alpes hosts 1500 skiers and snowboarders each day in summer.

There are 16 lifts open in summer (compared with 48 in winter) with 90 hectares of slopes, 4 blue runs, 2 green runs and 2 red runs.

Superb snowpark

40% of skiers and boarders who visit the resort come for its famous snowpark to practice their freestyle skills.

The park has two halfpipes, served by two lifts, as well as hips, rails, kickers and an air bag.  There’s a team of nine working in the park each day to keep it in shape.

There are DJs, snowboard testing and events throughout the summer.  The most famous event is the ‘Kumi Yama’ from 4-6 July – which pulls in hundreds of pro and amateur riders for three days.

Good value lift tickets

Instruction and ski hire are both available.  Lift tickets cost EUR37.50 for adults for a full day (the glacier opens at 7am until 12.30pm), or a half day ticket costs EUR30 (for a 9.30am start).

That half day ticket also includes access to the lifts for an afternoon of mountain biking – another massively popular activity in Les 2 Alpes in summer.
