Courchevel prepares for the start of the season

It’s been a good start to the winter in Courchevel, with 30 cm of fresh snow in the resort and 1 metre at the top of La Saulire.

The resort officially opens for the season on Saturday 05 December for winter 2015/16.

Early Opening last week

The season started early with a one-off opening on Wednesday 25 November – which offered free skiing, parking and hot chocolate to anyone who wanted to get some early skiing in.

Art comes to Courchevel

Visitors to Courchevel this winter will have the chance to admire contemporary art across the resort.

You won’t miss the Saulire cable car – which has been decorated for the season by renown graffitti artist Jonone:

And throughout the resort you can enjoy the sculptures of Richard Orlanski.  Regulars to the resort may recognise his polar bear, joined this year by Kong!

You will be able to find Kong at the top of Saulire and there are three other pieces in the ski area: a panther at Chenus and two polar bears at La Vizelle.  Six other sculptures will be positioned in the town of Courchevel 1850 itself.
