What’s new in Courchevel this season?

After great early season snow – and an exceptional one-off early opening on 11 November – Courchevel is getting ready for its official opening on 10 December.

Early Opening – 11 November

The early opening on 11 November was a huge success with 3000 skiers and snowboarders taking to the slopes.

The top of Courchevel at La Saulire currently has around 1m of snow already, although visitors to resort can be confident about the snow conditions thanks to the 600 snow cannons.

This winter sees Courchevel celebrate its 70th birthday and the resort will host 126 different events during the season.

Women’s World Cup

Big events at the start of the season include the Women’s Alpine Ski World Cup as well as Christmas and New Year’s celebrations.

The World Cup event on 19 and 20 December includes a chance to see world-class giant slalom racing, with other free animation to entertain visitors including an ice-skating gala, mountain biking display and aerobatic demos.

Art au Sommet

If you’re in Courchevel this winter, you must watch out for the 8th year of ‘L’Art au Sommet’, with pieces of contemporary art positioned around the mountain.

Street artists will be showing their work across all the villages and JonOne – a graffiti artist from New York – will be putting his own unique design on the Saulire cable car this winter.
