Jerusalem piste to St Martin in Les 3 Vallees regraded to ‘blue’ from ‘red’

The Jerusalem piste that runs from the ridge between the Meribel and Belleville valleys has been re-graded as a blue piste for the 2016/17 ski season.

This is good news for anyone wanting to take a gentle stroll down to St Martin de Belleville for lunch this winter.

A popular run in Les 3 Vallees

Jerusalem is on the list of ‘Favourite ski runs in the Three Valleys’ for many skiers and snowboarders, and despite the change from red to blue, this is unlikely to change.

Work took place during the summer to re-contour the mountain side to allow this change. Locals from the website latania.co.uk spotted some of this work going on while mountain biking last summer and took the photo shown below:

More snow cannons

The new route allows skiers to avoid the more difficult stages of the route down. The intersection with the ‘Verdet’ piste has been re-modelled and widened to reduce the ice that sometimes used to build there. Additionally 15 new snow cannons have been added.

The total costs of the changes was slightly less than €1 million, of which half of that cost went on the snow-making features.

There is still an option for skiers looking for more of a challenge via the renamed ‘Cherferie’ piste, so whichever way you choose to arrive, St Martin de Belleville remains as appealing a lunch spot as ever.
