Have you ever skied the Vallee Blanche off-piste run in Chamonix? This famous 20km run should only be attempted with a guide and takes you from the Aiguille du Midi at 3812m carefully down through the Mer de Glace glacier.
French freeskier Sam Favret has gone one step further in his Vallee Blanche run…by skiing literally IN the glacier itself!
The Backyards Project
The Chamonix local revealed his innovation in the release of his new movie ‘Backyards Project’, which came out at the end of last year.
Both of Favret’s parents are local mountain guides and the movie was mainly filmed in Chamonix. Sam recently said: “For years I dreamed of taking the time to achieve my vision of creating a film based in my own playing field of Chamonix.”
