If you love your skiing, then 28 May 2022 is a date for your diary as this is when Les 2 Alpes opens for its summer ski season.
Thanks to excellent snow management, this is the earliest date that the resort has ever opened its glacier.
It will be the only area open for skiing in France (until 11 June when Val d’Isere opens) and will welcome 30,000 skiers and snowboarders across the summer.
Europe’s largest summer ski area
Les 2 Alpes summer ski area is Europe’s largest with 30km of slopes located between 3200m and 3600m. It is open from 7am to 12.30pm each day.
This year will feature several improvements.
A boardercross has been built in the snowpark to host international competitions. There’s also a smaller boardercross for families, and a green slope alongside the park for viewing the pro riders in action.
Visitors can also enjoy the ice cave and Le Belvédère des Écrins skywalk at 3400m, a zone easily accessible to pedestrians as well via the funicular railway.
A mecca for mountain bikers
As well as skiing, Les 2 Alpes is famous as a destination for mountain bikers, with 25,000 expected to visit this summer.
The bike park has 100km of downhill, freeride, freestyle, enduro and e-biking circuits.
Upgrades for this summer include the blue trail Lilith, located in the Diable area and a new blue circuit for e-bikes, between the top of the Diable, Gours-Thuit and Les Crêtes areas.
The ‘Mountain of Hell’…for kids
If you have children who love mountain biking, then why not point them towards ‘The Mountain of Hell’ in June 2022.
This is a long-standing event for adults, but this summer for the first time, this summer, there is also a race for children aged from 9 to 14. The 2022 Mountain of Hell will take place from 24 to 26 June.
