Work will start later this year with plans for a new gondola to open in Serre Chevalier in December 2024.
To make it easier for skiers to circulate between the different resorts of Villeneuve, Chantemerle and Monêtier, the Pontillas and Fréjus gondolas will be replaced by a more modern high-performance gondola.
Single gondola to replace two older ones
The two older, high energy-consumption lifts will be removed to make room for a new-generation more ecological lift.
The new ‘Pontillas’ gondola will be a 10-seater and have the capacity to carry 2800 skiers per hour.
The base station will include a storage zone for cabins, offices, a sales and information desk as well as 450 sqm of commercial properties. Shuttle buses will serve the new lift.
