Skiplex – it’s like a treadmill for skiers!

Chaletline blogger, Iain Martin, visited Skiplex in Chiswick last weekend – and was impressed!

We are off on a family ski holiday to La Rosiere in December (taking advantage of the Chaletline BOGOF lift pass offer!).

Our children have only been on one ski trip before, so we thought it would be helpful to get some practice in before we arrive in France.

I really can’t recommend this highly enough as a pre-holiday investment.  The  easiest way to explain Skiplex is that it’s like a treadmill for skiers: the surface moves beneath your feet and you ski on top of it.

This video explains it well:

Skiplex now has three centres in the UK.  In Chiswick, Basingstoke and Reading.  Lessons cost around £30 ph, although there are various offers.

The other advantage I saw is that the children had the chance to try on skis and boots again. That on its own can save a lot of stress on the first day when you are dealing with little ones in a ski resort.

The one-to-one attention from the instructor, and the fact that the children could see him the whole time – even when skiing behind them they could see him in the mirror – also really helps.
