Les Arcs host ‘The Great British Celebration’

The French ski resort of Les Arcs in the Paradiski ski area has always been very supportive of UK skiers.

Given that 45% of their international market come from the UK, it’s great to see that they are recognising the importance of British skiers to the resort’s fortunes.

The Great British Celebration

To celebrate how passionate Brits are about skiing the resort is organising a whole week in March dedicated to British snow-lovers.

The ‘Great British Celebration’ will take place from 27-30 March 2017, and aims to celebrate British culture with a week full of skiing, parties and offers.

Events throughout the week

The whole resort will be decked out in British colours throughout the week, all the way from the railway station in the valley floor at Bourg Saint Maurice to the summit of the Aiguille Rouge at 3226m.

There will be events running all week in each village of Les Arcs, including:

  • A fun ‘crunch tournament’ at the ice rink in Arc 2000
  • A ‘Robin Hood’ tournament and British Family Party in Arc 1950
  • A Franco-British sledge contest in Arc 1800
  • A race between French and British skiers in Arc 1600

‘We want to reassert our friendship with the British’

The mayor of Les Arcs, Michel Giraudy, said of the Great British Celebration:

“Brexit or not to Brexit, that’s not the question! British skiers are as welcome in Les Arcs as they are at home.

“With this event, we want to reassert our friendship with the British, help French people discover the rich Anglo-Saxon culture and celebrate our union, here in our ski resort and on our slopes.”
