Klosters

Klosters is part of the Parsenn ski area, which it shares with Davos.  Unlike the more cosmopolitan Davos, Klosters is more traditonal, harking back to its former life as a typical alpine farming village.  Its unassuming air attracts an upmarket clientele, including key British royals.  The resort is divided into two sectors: Klosters Platz around the town centre and Klosters Dorf, a couple of kilometres along the railway line.  They are connected by a regular bus which is covered by the local lift pass.

The area closest to Klosters, Madrisa, has some of the best beginners slopes in Switzerland.  The area also offers a steep black as well as an access route to Gargellen in Austria.  The wider area of Parsenn offers some demanding terrain, both on and off piste.  Snowboarders have a choice of parks - one in the Davos area of Jakobshorn, the other by the Selfranglift in Klosters.

For non skiers there are some beautiful walks along the valley floor and some mountain restaurants are accessible to non-skiers by cable cars, trains or by steeper walking paths. If you want more action and shopping, however, you will need to take the train or car through to nearby Davos, which is the highest town in Europe with a very good array of shops, restaurants and bars.
