Les Gets is one of those few resorts which manage to combine the beauty of an unspoilt, traditional village with the advantages of a purpose-built resort with a vast ski area - the Portes du Soleil. The Portes du Soleil area is the world’s biggest international ski area. There is a massive choice of piste – from picturesque tree-lined slopes to enormous, open, high altitude snow bowls. A single pass can cover this whole area, incorporating 14 resorts, including Avoriaz, Morzine and Chatel. The area closest to Les Gets is very beginner friendly and also has plenty to occupy intermediates. Recent investment in high speed chairlifts make La Ranfully and La Rosta minutes away, where you will be treated to some rolling red cruisers with loopy blue variants. Experts can find bigger challenges at Chamossiere, or take a slight detour to Mont Chery, which features the resort’s top challenge: the Bouquetin black run.
The village is an appealing mixture of old chalets in distinctive Savoyard style and tasteful modern buildings which blend to create a character not always found in French resorts. There is a colourful main street with lots of reasonably priced shops, bars and restaurants, an ice rink and a square which hosts a weekly market. Les Gets provides a relaxed and sophisticated atmosphere for families, allowing you to unwind and relax after a day's skiing. Discover tucked-away mountain restaurants, explore the variety of quiet bars and bistros, or dance the night away at Igloo, Les Gets' one and only disco. Enjoy a lunchtime picnic on the ski slopes, bowling or a weekly night time torch lit descent down the mountain.
